CALL FOR PAPERS

Submissions before February 28, 2014 may be considered for the May 2014 issue

Please read the guidelines for submission below.

The Guidance Journal, released annually, is the official journal of the Philippine Guidance and Counseling Association, Inc., the Accredited Professional Organization by the Professional Regulation Commission and published under ISSN: 2094-0599. Its main purpose is to promote and represent scholarly work conducted by licensed Filipino counselors in the country and abroad.

  • Articles accepted for review are those original papers reporting results of studies indicating empirical research that contributes significantly to knowledge in any section of counselling.
  • The manuscript must not exceed fourteen pages and should include an abstract of not more than 200 words and five keywords.
  • The reference list are to include only those actively mentioned on the submitted article.
  • Manuscript must not have been published in any form before and is not being considered for publication elsewhere.
  • All manuscripts are to follow the style of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6thEdition) most importantly in handling of references, tables, figures, headings and subheadings, abbreviations, symbols.
  • Only electronic versions of the manuscript, preferably on MS Word, will be accepted.
  • Authors are to submit the following documents in separate files: 
    1. ( ) title of manuscript
      ( ) running head
      ( ) author(s)
      ( ) author affiliation
      ( ) contact information of the corresponding author including postal address, phone, and email address  
    2. The complete fourteen-page manuscript with no leading information about the author/s.
    3. A letter of intent to have the manuscript published with assurance that
      • the author/s complied with ethical guidelines related to research
      • the author is indeed the owner of the submitted research work
      • the manuscript has not been published before or is being considered for publication somewhere else

Manuscripts will undergo peer-review and authors will be sent any of the following feedback:

___ revise and resubmit; detailed comments attached

___ try again for the next issue

The Guidance Journal implements a constructive peer review policy, wherein referees are encouraged to provide authors with detailed comments that would help authors improve their manuscripts for publication.

Manuscripts that are accepted will be subject to further editing to improve effectiveness.

The copyright of all published manuscripts will be shared by the authors and the PGCA.

   

PGCA @ 50: Towards Globally Competitive Counselors

Warm greetings from the Philippine Guidance and Counseling Association (PGCA), the accredited organization of the Professional Regulation Commission!

We are pleased to inform you that we will be holding our 50th Annual National Conference on May 12-14, 2014 at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, Roxas Boulevard, CCP Complex, Pasay City with the theme, “PGCA @ 50: Towards Globally Competitive Counselors”. It aims to help improve the competencies of guidance counselors and help licensed counselors obtain continuing professional education points. The PGCA Conference will be more than our regular event since we are also celebrating PGCA’s golden anniversary.

50TH MIDYEAR SEMINAR-WORKSHOP OF THE PHILIPPINE GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING ASSOCIATION (PGCA), INC.

The Philippine Guidance and Counseling Association (PGCA), Inc. will conduct its 50th Midyear Seminar-Workshop with the theme PGCA @ 50: Towards Globally Competitive Counselor on October 18-19, 2013 at the Holy Trinity University, Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

The Seminar-Workshop aims to: 1. improve the competencies of guidance counselors and related helping professionals; and 2. help licensed counselors obtain continuing professional education units.

The target participants to this activity are school guidance counselors, heads, and teachers from both public and private elementary and secondary schools.

Participation of both public and private schools shall be subject to the no- disruption-of-classes policy as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2005 entitled Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time-on-Task and Ensuring Compliance Therewith.
