Top caliber leaders of National Counseling Organizations in the United States head our roster of Speakers.
PGCA only and PGCA-IAC participants can listen to and interact with more resource persons and delegates from different parts of the world.
There will be a rebate on the fees paid by PGCA only and PGCA-IAC participants, since we have changed the venue.
IAC only participants can attend at least one workshop aside from the round-table discussions.
Human Rights means all kind of rights people have in the emotional, intellectual, academic, social, spiritual, political, etc., spheres.
- Foreign Speakers
Our keynote speaker for the PGCA Convention on May 16 is Dr. Courtland Lee, the President of the IAC and former President of the American Counseling Association (ACA).
Our Plenary Speaker cum workshop on May 16 is Dr. Vivian Lee, the Executive Director of the National Office for School Counselor Advocacy (NOSCA) of the College Board, USA.
Dr. Carol Bobby, president and CEO of the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) is the keynote speaker on May 17.
Our very own Dr. Harry Lorenzo is the Keynote Speaker on May 18. There will be other foreign speakers in the small round table discussions.
- Change of Format
IAC has agreed that PGCA only participants can join the IAC delegates for the keynote speeches and all the round-table discussions from May 17 to 18. Moreover, it has also agreed that some IAC delegates and officers will run workshops in the afternoon of May 17. The IAC only participants will also attend the May 17 workshops. The PGCA Board has deemed this a very important development to give PGCA participants that “global” opportunity.
Participation in the IAC opening ceremony in the evening of May 16 at the Century Park Hotel and the IAC culminating activities on May 19 is limited to PGCA-IAC or IAC only participants. PGCA only participants may choose to attend the culminating activity provided they upgrade and pay the additional PhP1500.00 fee and get another ID.
PGCA only participants can join either the IAC round-table discussion or the workshops in the afternoon of May 18. However, PGCA-IAC and IAC only participants have to remain in their round-table discussion groups.
- Certificates of Participation PGCA only participants will get the PGCA Certificate, while IAC only participants will get the IAC Certificate. For those attending both, a joint IAC-PGCA certificate will be obtained.
- CPE points
PGCA-IAC - 29 points
PGCA alone - 24 pts
IAC alone - 21 pts
Research alone - 5pts
- Name tags
St. Scholastica’s College will be very strict about name tags. Name tags must be worn all the time everywhere as no one will be allowed to enter the premises and the session rooms without such. The same will be applied at Century Park Hotel.
Name tags are color-coded to indicate what participants are entitled to attend. Hence PGCA only participants cannot cross over to IAC only activities and vice-versa.
Forgotten or lost name tag can be replaced for a fee of PhP100.00 for the additional work and the materials to be used.
- Change of Venue
It has been announced to those who have registered and in this website that the PGCA opening session and all other proceedings will be held in St. Scholastica’s College. The less than 100 first early-bird registrants caused some agitation when Dusit Hotel pushed for a decision regarding whether the 150 pax ballroom or the 400 pax ballroom would be reserved. If PGCA committed to 150, what would happen if more than 150 came? If the 400 pax ballroom were reserved and much less than that came, PGCA funds would be wasted paying for meals that are unused, instead of providing noteworthy projects for counselors.
We could not be optimistic that we could get 400 people because
- Those who took advantage of the first early bird rate were far too few, compared to previous years.
- Many have renewed their licenses.
- Many have fulfilled the reduced CPE requirements for 2012.
- Many have attended PGCA 2011 midyear and chapter activities.
The fees paid for the PGCA only and PGCA-IAC Convention will be reduced by PhP 500.00 if paid before April 30. Those who have already paid will be refunded the amount of PhP500.00. Please bring your receipts. Refunds will be given only after May 16, at the time and place to be announced during the May 16 convention.
Workshops will be on a first-come-first-served basis. No sign-up sheets will be filled before hand. Workshop rooms and topics will be posted at the lobby of Kuniberta Hall in St. Scholastica’s College and the different floors of the Mechtilde and Otilien Building where the session rooms are. Participants can enter any workshop room provided there is space.
Participants should write their names legibly and affix their signature in the attendance sheet each time. Please remember license number, if any.
- Round-Table Discussion Rooms
Round-table discussions are limited to 15-20 people per working group. Sign up sheets for working group will be made available on May 16. Members cannot move from one group to another -- they have to stick to the working groups they signed up for. Every participant, PGCA or IAC, will get a chance to attend all the round-table discussions, but PGCA only participants can go to their selected workshop on the afternoon of May 18, while IAC is having its third round table discussion.
The IAC opening and welcome reception was likewise moved to Century Park Hotel since it would be easier for the speakers and participants to transfer from St. Scholastica’s College to Century Park from 5:30 to 6:30. The Research Seminar will be in Room 207 of Orchid Garden Hotel in Pablo Ocampo Street across Century Park.
