From the PGCA President

Dear Fellow Counselors,

To those who were with us at the 46th Annual Convention, thank you very much for your presence. I truly appreciate your kind understanding and appreciation of the difficulties encountered in conducting conventions and workshops. Thank you for uplifting our spirits with your congratulatory messages.

We wanted to give you the best by inviting foreign resources persons and offering more varied workshops. Dr, Courtland Lee and Dr. Vivian Lee, who were both plenary speakers and workshop resource persons, were really impressed by the Filipinos. Charles Frost also enjoyed the experience of running the workshop. Like the Lees, his first session was overbooked.

But the downside was that so many people insisted on attending workshops beyond the announced maximum capacity, thus affecting seats, handouts, food, participation, temperature and temper. I talked to Dr. Lee about this and he told me that this happens even in the United States.

Another highlight of the Convention was the presentation of the new PRB members. They openly responded to queries participants raised to clarify CPE requirements and licensure possibilities.

Many of you went home with a DVD player, portable cassette player, rice cooker, or cash when you attended the business meeting.  We wanted to share with you the donations we received.

We thank all the officers-of the day, resource persons, paper and poster presentors, seminar speakers, and workshop facilitators for lending their time and expertise. We thank all the Board Members for having done their share to bring you the Convention. We especially thank Mendel Quiba for arranging for the hosting at JRU.

The Board thanks all the JRU, UST, FEU, CEU, DLSU, Manila Doctors and St. Scholastica’s College counselors, faculty, students and staff who helped make the Convention a success, together with Alma Mosatalla, Malou Chavez and Chit Salonga. If I have forgotten to mention others who helped, I beg your indulgence, and I extend my sincere gratitude as well.

As I bid you goodbye as your president, let me thank all of you for the trust and support you have extended. The task was not easy, but I enjoyed working with you and for you. There is a lot of work ahead, but I promise to be an active ex-officio, so do expect me to still be active in the PGCA Board.

Your new officers are:

  • President: Benedicta Lascano
  • Vice-President: Lucila Bance
  • Secretary: Lourdes Chavez
  • Treasurer: Adelaida Gines
  • PRO: Carmencita Salonga
  • Business Manager: Harry Lorenzo
  • Auditor: Mendelson Quiba
  • Board Members: Trinidad Abenojar, Vicentita Cervera, Consolacion Concepcion, Wilfredo Mina
  • Ex-Officio: Imelda V.G. Villar

Please continue to pray for and support the PGCA and its Board Members. All the best and God bless all of you.

Imelda V. G. Villar,
